On May 31, 2022, Chinese Ambassador to Kuwait Zhang Jianwei presented the copy of the Letter of Credence to Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Sabah.

Ambassador Zhang stated that China and Kuwait are good friends and partners that trust each other and treasure sincere cooperation. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two sides 51 years ago, the two countries have always shown mutual understanding and support on issues concerning each other’s major concerns and core interests, setting a good example for state-to-state friendship, adding that after China and Kuwait forged a strategic partnership in 2018, China-Kuwait relations have opend a new chapter.“As the new Chinese Ambassador to Kuwait, I will continue to carry forward bilateral friendship and work with the Kuwaiti side to implement the important consensus reached by Chinese President Xi Jinping and Kuwaiti leaders and to strive for firmer bilateral ties and deeper practical cooperation between us,” he continued, saying that this will lift China-Kuwait strategic partnership to new heights.

For his part, Ahmed extended warm welcome to Ambassador Zhang. He said that Kuwait-China friendship enjoys a solid basis and bilateral cooperation has yielded fruitful results, stressing that Kuwait places great emphasis on its relations with China and will collaborate with China on implementing the important consensus between leaders of the two countries and seeking closer exchange and cooperation on various fronts, in a bid to make bigger strides in bilateral strategic partnership. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait would also provide support and assistance to Ambassador Zhang in performing his duties.

Ambassador Zhang arrived in Kuwait on May 22, 2022.
