On August 1, 2022, the Chinese Embassy in Kuwait held a celebration for the 95th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China. Chinese Ambassador Zhang Jianwei, and a group of senior military officers of the Kuwaiti services as led by Assistant Chief of the General Staff of the Supply and Logistics Authority Major General Khaled Bilal Al-Obaidi, attended the celebration.
Ambassador Zhang remarked that the PLA is the people’s army established by the Communist Party of China (CPC) and its growth is witnessed by the historic journey of the CPC and the PRC that started from scratch and became increasingly strong. It provides a solid guarantee for the independence and liberation of the Chinese nation, for the establishment and development of socialism with Chinese characteristics and for international and regional security and stability, he added. China once suffered immensely from the scourge of invasion, and thus is deeply aware the value of peace. China firmly opposes wars and interference with internal affairs of others, advocates dialogue and cooperation, and actively push for a new type of international relations, thus building a community with a shared future for mankind. Ambassador Zhang pointed out that as an integral part of our friendship and cooperation, practical military-to-military cooperation between the two sides have made positive progress in high-level mutual visits, educational training and military trade. China stands ready to work with the Kuwaiti side to promote effective and in-depth exchanges and cooperation between our military forces in various fields.
Defense Attaché of the Chinese Embassy in Kuwait Xue Chuanlai said in his remarks that since the 18th National Congress of the CPC, the PLA has made historic strides in strengthening the armed forces, as guided by Xi Jinping’s thinking on strengthening the military. Chinese armed forces have the determination, confidence and ability to provide strategic support for consolidating the CPC’s leadership and the socialist system and defending national interests. The Global Security Initiative (GSI) proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping stresses the importance for countries to uphold a win-win mindset and to create a new path to security that features dialogue over confrontation, partnership over alliance and win-win over zero-sum. Taking this initiative as guidance, China will adhere to the defense policy that is defensive in nature, and vigorously promote international cooperation on military security. A strong military of China is a staunch force for world peace, stability and the building of a community with a shared future for mankind. Defense Attaché Xue Chuanlai added that, traditional friendship and strategic partnership between our two nations have grown even firmer over the years, and bilateral cooperation in the military field has also come a long way. China is ready to work with Kuwait to take bilateral cooperation on national defense and the military sector to a new height.
High-level military and political officials of Kuwait attach high important to consolidating and developing the strategic partnership with China, Major General Khaled made the remarks while addressing the event. Attendance of a group of key officials from the Kuwaiti services at the celebration for the 95th anniversary of the PLA’s founding demonstrates fully the special ties between the military forces of our two nations. He sincerely wished China a prosperous future and the PLA new progress in national defense and military modernization, and looked forward to deepening the military-to-military ties between the two sides.
