On July 28, 2024, the Chinese Embassy in Kuwait held a reception to commemorate the 97th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA). Ambassador Zhang Jianwei, Defense Attaché of the Chinese Embassy Xue Chuanlai, and around 450 guests including Undersecretary of the Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Meshal Al-Sabah, and Representative of the Kuwaiti Chief of the General Staff and Land Force Commander Major General Khaled Ali Zayed, attended the reception.

Defense Attaché Xue Chuanlai said in his remarks that China’s armed forces will thoroughly implement Xi Jinping’s thinking on strengthening the military and walk unswervingly on the path of building with Chinese characteristics the strong military. China’s efforts to strengthen defense development neither target nor pose threat to any country. Every increase of China’s strength is an increase of the prospects of world peace. China stands ready to work actively to elevate military cooperation and exchanges between China and Kuwait to a new height and work together toward the goal of building a community with a shared future for mankind.

In his speech, Sheikh Dr. Abdullah highly praised the achievements of China’s defense and military development and said the Kuwaiti side is willing to enhance cooperation with China in military and other areas to consolidate and further bilateral relations.
