On August 11, 2024, Ambassador Zhang Jianwei called on Foreign Minister of Kuwait Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya. They exchanged opinions on China-Kuwait cooperation and international and regional issues.

Ambassador Zhang remarked that with personal commitment and strategic guidance of our two leaders, traditional friendship between the two nations has been strengthened and developed, and bilateral cooperation has been deepened in various areas to be more productive. China stands ready to work with the Kuwaiti side to actively advance our practical cooperation and elevate China-Kuwait relations to new heights.

For his part, Yahya observed that Kuwait and China are close friends and good partners, adding that Kuwait is willing to collaborate with China in implementing the common understandings between the two heads of state and deliver on more cooperative projects as early as possible for the mutual benefit of both nations.

Both sides also exchanged their views on the situation in the Middle East. Yahya spoke highly of China’s effective efforts for the reconciliation talks held by Palestinian factions and their signing of the Beijing Declaration on Ending Division and Strengthening Palestinian National Unity. He said the Kuwaiti side will strengthen communication and coordination with the Chinese side and work together to promote the ceasefire in Gaza.
