Ambassador Zhang Jianwei Attends “Distant and Close Relations” Cultural Forum

On November 13, 2024, the Chinese Embassy in Kuwait and Dar al-Athar al-Islamiyyah co-organized a cultural forum entitled Distant and Close Relations: Silk roads connecting two worlds, which was attended by over 200 people including Ambassador Zhang Jianwei, Director of Art Exhibitions China Mr. Tan Ping, Minister of Information and Culture Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi as the representative of the Kuwaiti Prime Minister, Director General of Dar al-Athar al-Islamiyyah Sheikha Hussa Sabah al-Salem al-Sabah and friends from various sectors of Kuwait.



During his speech Ambassador Zhang Jianwei noted that President Xi Jinping proposed the Global Civilization Initiative featuring tolerance, coexistence, exchanges and mutual learning among different civilizations. China will work actively with the Kuwaiti side to implement the common consensus between the two heads of state and deepen people-to-people exchanges between the two countries. Minister Al-Mutairi said the two heads of state have reached important common understandings concerning the strengthening of exchanges and cooperation in culture and other areas, and the two sides will make concerted efforts to carry forward our cultures and bolster exchanges and mutual learning between our civilizations.


At the forum Chinese and foreign experts and scholars exchanged their thoughts on land and maritime Silk Roads, the implementation of the Global Civilization Initiative and other topics.

Ambassador Zhang was interviewed by Kuwait TV and other media outlets during the event.
