On December 3, 2024, Ambassador Zhang Jianwei attended the signing ceremony of the talent development program launched by the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) in collaboration with Huawei Technologies Kuwait and delivered a speech at the event. Mr. Jeff Zhu, Huawei Kuwait CEO and Dr. Ameenah Rajab Farhan KFAS Director General signed the cooperation document at the ceremony.
Ambassador Zhang said President Xi Jinping put forward the Global Development Initiative that highlights cooperation in the digital economy. With the support of Huawei, Kuwait has realized its 5G coverage and is scheduled to launch 5.5G-based services next year, being a global pioneer of the application of telecommunications technologies. This provides another good example of high-quality practical cooperation between China and Kuwait. Guided by the Global Development Initiative, we will continue to enhance the synergy between China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and Kuwait Vision 2035 and work actively to advance high-tech cooperation between the two sides in order to further enrich our strategic partnership.
At the event, Ambassador Zhang presented awards to six students from the Kuwait University who are first-prize winners of the Middle East session of the Huawei Seeds for the Future 2024 Program. He encouraged the young people of Kuwait to draw wisdom from the latest development of worldwide advanced technologies and contribute their share to the growth of their country and to an even brighter future of China-Kuwait relationship.
