On the evening of December 18, 2024, the Chinese Embassy in Kuwait hosted a reception to mark the inauguration of its new premises. The reception was attended by Ambassador Zhang Jianwei and over 300 guests including Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya and other government officials, friends from various sectors of Kuwait, diplomatic envoys, and representatives from Chinese institutions in Kuwait and the local Chinese community.
During his speech, Ambassador Zhang reviewed the progress of China-Kuwait relations and the outcome of China’s diplomatic efforts in 2024, stressing that China’s active efforts to follow through the Belt and Road Initiative and three major global initiatives on development, security, and civilization put forth by by President Xi Jinping, have injected impetus into world peace and development. As the new premises are inaugurated, China will take it as an opportunity to work with the Kuwaiti side to implement the important common understandings between the two heads of state and elevate China-Kuwait strategic partnership to new heights.
Yahya spoke highly of China’s Middle East policy and emphasized the Kuwaiti side will increase the synergy of development strategies between the two countries, deepen Belt and Road cooperation and improve the common wellbeing of the two peoples.
Video clips on China-Kuwait relationship and the construction of the new premises were played at the reception. Art performance, including traditional Chinese dance and guzheng solo, was given and well-received during the event.
