On February 16, 2025, Ambassador Zhang Jianwei met with Kuwait’s Minister of Public Works Noura Al-Mashaan, while attending the signing ceremony of the Mubarak Al Kabeer Port in Kuwait. The ceremony was also attended by Hu Hanming, Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy, Sameeh Essa Johar Hayat, Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs of the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry, and the representative of the Chinese enterprise concerned.

Deputy General Manager of China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) Chen Zhong and Kuwaiti Minister of Public Works Noura Al-Mashaan signed the cooperation documents regarding the Mubarak Al Kabeer Port on behalf of the two sides. Noura stressed that this project is intended to build Kuwait into a regional trade hub and facilitate the country’s economic diversification.

Ambassador Zhang and Minister Noura exchanged their opinions on efforts to accelerate practical cooperation in various areas, both acknowledging that under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and Amir Sheikh Mishal, China-Kuwait cooperation in port construction and other major projects has made sustainable progress. Moving forward, the two sides will continue to advance the implementation of important consensus reached between the two heads of state and translate the blueprint of China-Kuwait strategic cooperation into more tangible outcomes, which will deliver greater benefits to the two countries and peoples.
