On 13 May 2025, Ambassador Zhang Jianwei met with Chief Executive John Lee of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of China and his delegation at the Embassy.
Ambassador Zhang warmly welcomed Chief Executive Lee’s visit to Kuwait, noting that the delegation had received high-level hospitality from Kuwait, and reached significant consensus and achieved fruitful results with Kuwaiti leaders, which will not only greatly promote the cooperation between Hong Kong and Kuwait, but also have a positive impact on China-Kuwait relations. Chief Executive Lee expressed his gratitude for the Embassy’s strong support and remarked that Hong Kong, as a “super connector” and “super value-adder”, will leverage its unique strengths in linking domestic and international markets to make active contributions to high-quality BRI cooperation between China and Kuwait, and China’s national development.
This visit, organized by the Hong Kong SAR Government, marks the first time that the business communities of Hong Kong and the Mainland of China formed a joint delegation to “share the vessel to venture overseas”. During the visit, Ambassador Zhang also accompanied Chief Executive Lee to meet with HH the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, HH Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, and HE Acting Prime Minister Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, and together they attended events such as a business luncheon.
