On March 1, 4 and 8, 2026, Chinese Ambassador to Kuwait Yang Xin met with H.E. Ambassador Sameeh Essa Johar Hayat, Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs of Kuwait, to maintain close communication on the current situation in the region.

Sameeh briefed Ambassador Yang on the latest developments of the regional situation and Kuwait’s position, noting that the spread and spillover of the conflict is deeply concerning. Kuwait spoke highly of China’s important role in safeguarding regional security and stability, and expressed the hope of strengthening coordination with the Chinese side to promote an early ceasefire and an end to the conflict. He added that Kuwait will continue to take measures to ensure the safety of Chinese personnel and institutions in the country.

Yang Xin said since the escalation of regional tensions, China has been working actively to secure peace and bring about a ceasefire. China attaches importance to the legitimate concerns of Kuwait and other Gulf countries, and maintains that the sovereignty, security and territorial integrity of all countries should be respected, and any attacks against innocent civilians or non-military targets should be condemned. He hoped that the Kuwaiti side would continue to ensure the safety of Chinese personnel and institutions in Kuwait and facilitate the departure of stranded personnel.
