On June 18, 2026, Chinese Ambassador to Kuwait Yang Xin paid a courtesy visit to Sheikh Athbi Nasser Al-Athbi Al-Sabah, Governor of Farwaniya Governorate in Kuwait. 

Ambassador Yang Xin said, since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Kuwait 55 years ago, bilateral relations have developed steadily, adding that the Chinese Embassy will support Farwaniya Governorate in leveraging its strength to expand sub-national cooperation between the two countries and create more win-win opportunities for the two sides.  

For his part, Athbi highly commended China’s economic and social progress, saying that Kuwait attaches great importance to developing relations with China and will work with China to keep tapping the potential, expand our friendly and mutually-beneficial cooperation to broader fields and elevate bilateral relations to higher heights.
