On June 18, 2026, Chinese Ambassador to Kuwait Yang Xin met with Ms. Mari Yamashita, senior representative of UN Secretary-General for the implementation of Security Council Resolution 2792, during her visit to Kuwait. 

Mari Yamashita commended China’s long-term support for the work of the UN. She also gave an overview of the latest efforts and progress on the issue of missing Kuwaiti and third-country nationals and missing Kuwaiti property since her appointment, and looked forward to continual support from China on this issue.

Yang Xin said, China supports the work conducted on the basis of the applicable UN Security Council resolution and will continue to play a constructive role in this connection.
