On June 22, 2026, Chinese Ambassador to Kuwait Yang Xin paid a courtesy visit to Hamad Jassim Mohammad Al-Habshi, Governor of Jahra Governorate in Kuwait.

Ambassador Yang Xin noted, China and Kuwait enjoy traditional friendship, and bilateral relations have achieved great progress since the establishment of diplomatic relations 55 years ago and strategic partnership in particular between China and Kuwait. As Kuwait’s largest governorate by area, Jahra Governorate has an important role and position in the country’s overall development. China stands ready to work with authorities and departments at the subnational level, including those of Jahra Governorate, to create greater synergy between our development strategies, enhance practical cooperation in various fields, and deliver more benefit to the two peoples.      

For his part, Hamad highly commended the contributions made by Chinese enterprises to the development of Jahra Governorate, saying that the government and people of Kuwait are very pleased with Kuwait-China relations and the outcomes of bilateral cooperation. He also welcomed more Chinese enterprises to invest and do business in Jahra, adding that Kuwait would provide all necessary assistance in this connection.
