On July 15, 2026, Chinese Ambassador to Kuwait Yang Xin paid a visit to Undersecretary of Kuwait’s Ministry of Defense Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Meshal Al-Sabah.

Ambassador Yang Xin noted that Kuwait was the first Arab state of the Gulf to forge diplomatic ties with the People’s Republic of China (PRC). In the 55 years, state-to-state and military-to-military relations have made satisfactory progress. Guided by the Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy and the Xi Jinping Thought on Strengthening the Military, China stays committed to safeguarding world peace and promoting shared development, works to advance the building of a community with a shared future for mankind, and pursues the defense policy that is defensive in nature. We are ready to work with Kuwait to deepen practical cooperation across the board, in a bid to make greater progress in state-to-state and military-to-military relations.  

For his part, Abdullah appreciated China’s long-term support to Kuwait, saying that Kuwait attaches great importance the development of its relations with China and would like to learn from China’s good governance experience and strengthen exchanges and cooperation in defense and other fields, so as to jointly promote regional peace, stability and development.
